OTHER GENERAL INFO!

FIT ON HIATUS

As you know, we will be on hiatus during the months of March and April for a well deserved break after all our hard work. :) However, so that we don’t miss each other so much, we will still have a few opportunities to meet again during this time for different special events! (see below) Also, please be sure to be in the look out for upcoming newsletters with more information. Although the newsletters may not be sent weekly, we will still send them periodically until the new season starts.

WONDERING WHAT TO DO DURING OUR OFF SEASON?

Here are some tips!

1)Rest, Rest, Rest! After all our hard training, our bodies need rest! Be sure you allow your body time to take it easy and recover.

2)Watch those calories! Since you will not be running/walking the same amount of miles you did while you were training, be sure to watch those calories and plan accordingly. Modify your calorie intake according to your activity level to avoid weight gain.

3)Try new activities! This is the perfect time for you to try something different and still remain active! Cycling, swimming, try taking different group fitness classes, etc. There is fun in variety and it is good for our bodies!

4)Try a different running/walking interval! If you wish to transition to a different group during our new season, try that new interval in the next couple of months and see how it feels so that when the new season comes you feel ready!

5)Enjoy your Friday nights but don’t get used to it! :) Go out with your friends for dinner and a movie or dancing. Have a normal Friday night, but do not get used to it so you don’t have a hard time later when the season begins in May.

6)Share your Marathon and Training Stories Talk to everyone about how much fun you had this season, all about your accomplishments, and invite them to join you in May!

7)Introduce someone new to the sport There will be lots of fun 5K’s including the RiverWalk Run which we will be participating in as a group. Invite someone new to try out the sport and have them get ready for this event with you! (more info on RiverWalk Run below)

8)MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND CHECK OUT THESE OTHER COOL EVENTS!

"My Success Story" By Ann Keough

Friends In Training Water Station, A THANK YOU note from Ann!

Two of my friends (aside from the 2 from FIT) who were running in the half marathon wanted me to pass on a gigantic THANK YOU to everyone at the FIT/first A1A Marathon water station for getting up early, volunteering to stick their arms out into a mass of people (which they said they'd be wary of doing!) and cheering on everyone!

They said the first water station was the most memorable because, well, we were first! They said we had great energy and our cheers buoyed them for a while!

I had a great time, it was lovely meeting everyone and I don't think I had that much fun at 4:30 am ever! I will definitely volunteer to do this again! Hope to see all of you out there next year! Thanks Richard for being a great ringleader! Water station #1 was #1 in many people's eyes!

Ann

Dear Ann, thank you for your note but most of all, THANK YOU for volunteering at the Friends In Training Water Station during the A1A Marathon last Sunday! Volunteering is not only a great way to support our running community but it is also fun and rewarding! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the experience and thanks again for coming out! :) Your head Coach
