FALL MEMBERS GET READY FOR A STRONG 10 AND 5 MILES THIS SATURDAY!! WOOO HOOO!!

This Saturday, our Fall group (those who joined in back in May) will be going out for strong 10 and 5 miler. For start times, see below. Have fun everyone! :)

FINALLY! THE DAY YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR HAS ARRIVED! NEW WINTER SIGN UPS THIS SATURDAY- SPREAD THE WORD! DO NOT GET LEFT BEHIND!

The moment you have been waiting for is hear! This Saturday, we will be starting our training program for local events such as Halloween Half, 13.1 Ft Lauderdale, Disney, ING Miami and A1A marathons and Half Marathons! You don’t want to miss it!

SEMINAR THIS SATURDAY: WELCOME NEW MEMBERS SESSION 2 & FALL/WINTER Q&A!!

Join us this Saturday as we extend a warm welcome to our new participants! We ask that if any of you want to share what FIT has done for you and how much you are enjoying your training, that you do so. Your stories will encourage and inspire our new members! You will have an opportunity to do this after our stretching session.

In addition, we will be answering questions in regards to Fall and Winter seasons, schedules, events, etc.

We will also have some great raffle prizes including a free entry to the Halloween Half Marathon, 13.1 Ft Lauderdale or ING Miami and an A1A entry, among other really cool prizes! You must be present to win. Don’t miss it!

TRAINING TIP OF THE WEEK

KEEP IT COOL!!!

-Are you over heating on Saturday mornings? Use the beach showers!!

With the high temperatures we are experiencing, it is easy to get over heated. We highly encourage you to keep your body cool by pouring water on your head, or simply get your head/body under the beach shower! This is not only refreshing, but fun!! :)

here are a few other tips for keeping your body cool:

-Bring a small cooler with ice!! You can bring ice and after the run, put it on your neck, your head, face, etc. You can also enjoy the ice on your recovery drink. "Clean ice" that is :)!!

-Bring a small towel for your face and neck! You can get your towel wet at the showers or water stops and put it nice and cold on your neck, head and face!

-Hydrate! We have talked a lot about the importance of hydration. Be sure to practice what you've learned :)

Please note the different start times according to your group and please be at the park 15 minutes prior to your start time.

FULL MARATHONERS: 10 Mile run/walk

Group A (14-16 min/mile pace) – No Group A participants meeting at this time

Group B (12-14 min/mile pace) - 5:30 AM

Group C (10.5-12 min/mile pace) -5:45 AM

Group D (9.0-10.5 min/mile pace)-6:00 AM

Group E (< 9.0 min/mile pace) - 6:15 AM

HALF MARATHONERS: 5 Mile run/walk

Group A (14-16 min/mile pace) – 6:30 AM

Group B (12-14 min/mile pace) - 6:30 AM

Group C (10.5-12 min/mile pace) -No Group C participants meeting at this time

Group D (9.0-10.5 min/mile pace)-No Group D participants meeting at this time

Group E (< 9.0 min/mile pace) - No Group E participants meeting at this time
 

FITNESS WALKERS!

Group A Fitness Walkers meet for a 7:30 am take off!

WINTER 30 MIN WALK/RUN!

All Winter Participants will be going out for a 30 minute Run/Walk after sign ups. Be sure to come prepared!

Please don't forget to bring your water bottle and a towel.

"My Success Story" By Assistant Coach Athena

Athena enjoys training with FIT!!!

I was born in Miami, FL but grew up in Nassau, Bahamas. I joined FIT in 2000 and have been connected ever since. My husband Torrance bought me my first pair of running shoes to help me keep the 100 lbs off that I gained when I quit smoking!!!!

There is no way, that I could have imagined running 5 miles; let alone 26.2!!!!

Thanks to God & FIT, I have completed 6 full marathons and 8 half marathons. There are running groups that are closer to my home, but nothing compares to the beautiful sunrise I get to experience every time I run with the group on A1A; it is simply priceless and is worth all of the extra miles that I have to drive.

Dear Athena,
Congratulations on all your accomplishments! We are thrilled to have you in our group and having you as a part of our FIT Leadership Team is such a blessing! Thank you for all you do and for helping us change lives one step at a time! :) Keep up the GREAT job!
