FIRST 10 MILER OF THE SEASON THIS SATURDAY! We are really excited about our first 10 miler this Saturday! Please read the training tip of the week section below and be sure to be ready! Please Note:If you are not training for a full marathon in the fall, it is not necessary for you to continue to increase your miles (unless you wish to do so). You can turn around early and let the group keep going! A good point to turn around would be at the restrooms in the parking lot. Please ask your Coach or Assistant Coach if you have any questions, or contact your head coach to discuss your options at marcela@friendsintraining.[email protected] OUR SEMINAR THIS WEEK IS ON RUNNING FORM BROUGHT TO YOU BY YOUR FIT ASSISTANT COACH GREG RAVEN Originally from Arlington Texas, Greg currently resides in Plantation Florida. Greg is a RRCA Certified Marathon Coach. His First race was the "Miller Lite 10K" in Bryan Texas, November 1982, and his First marathon was the "Cowtown Marathon" Fort Worth, Texas, February 1987. Greg has completed a total of 8 marathons, many 1/2 marathons, and dozens of 5 and 10ks. He has also been the race director for the "Central Park 5K" in Plantation, Florida. I have been fascinated with running since that first race I participated in over 26 years ago. My years of training, racing, and studying running have taught me many practical things which I enjoy sharing with others who wish to improve their own enjoyment of the sport. ATHENS MARATHON:THANK YOU FOR BOOKING!
Apostolos Greek Tours has informed us our participants have started booking! Great job and continue to do so! Remember they only have a specific amount of spots available In addition, we are trying to get an idea of how many FIT members are going to Athens so we can look into group flight rates. So please, if you are planning on going to Athens, try to book by July 16, If you do so, not only you will get Galloway’s free book, but this will also give us a better idea on how many to plan for. We are also working on group discounts and so far we are guaranteed $100 off per person; however our discount could be much better depending on how many people we get in our group. BALTIMORE MARATHON: HAVE YOU REGISTERED? Reminder! Baltimore participants, if you have not registered yet, we recommend you do so ASAP. When registering, use the code WERUNB2 so you can assure your Friends In Training Discount. Code expires at the end of July. Also, please email [email protected] to get on our Baltimore roster. Finally, we have heard of some great deals on flights so check them out and book your flights! Stay tuned for hotel info! OTHER FALL EVENTS Chicago Marathon Has closed out SATURDAY, JUNE 13TH
This Saturday, all groups will go out for an 10 mile walk/run.
