GENERAL INFO
CONGRATULATIONS FIT MEMBERS ON OUR FIRST 10 MILER OF THE SEASON!

We are really excited to announce we had a great turnout last week and everyone did terrific! Plus, we enjoyed some fun at the finish line! Those of you who were not able to make it, we really missed you! A special thank you goes out to Coach Audrey, Assistant Coaches Terry, Debbie, Greg, and everyone else who contributed in making the finish line such a success! To check out some pictures and video of our fun finish line please click here (You may need to allow some time for the videos to load)

PLEASE NOTE If you are not training for a full marathon in the fall, it is not necessary for you to continue to increase your miles. Starting this Saturday, we will have an “informal/short miles group option”.
Distance and times will be announced in this newsletter weekly. This Saturday, this “short miles group” will meet at 6:30 am and will go for 6 miles. Various paces are welcome and everyone is leaving the park at the same time regardless of their pace. If you haven’t been coming and feel comfortable with 6 miles, this will be a great opportunity for you to come back! Group A, B and C will have a leader to go with. If you run another pace, feel free to come, but you may not have a leader.

FIT SHOE DRIVE: HELPING THE HOMELESS!!!

We will be collecting all sizes of running/dress shoes after the runs on Saturdays, June 20th and June 27th. Donated shoes can be used, but they should be in good condition and clean. Our Shoe Drive is to benefit the Broward Outreach Center North Campus that will conduct their “Third Annual Christmas in July” event on July 3rd to bring “Independence to our homeless men, women and children”.

The Center offers emergency overnight shelter for homeless men, women and families as well as transitional housing for the chronically homeless. For more information about the Center please check: Miami Rescue Mission
For volunteering or sponsorship information, please see Assistant Coach Veronica on Saturday.

Our FIT community has been very helpful in our past Shoe Drives, and we know we can count on you to help with this wonderful cause!!!

"My Success Story" By Cathy Sedley

Cathy is happy she successfully completed her first 10 miler last Saturday! !

My name is Cathy Sedley, I live in Davie and was introduced to FIT a few months ago by friends and co-workers, Mindy Shiekman and Susan Frezer. Their lunch room running stories inspired me to join FIT. I ran my first 10 miles last Saturday. I never thought I would ever say that “I ran 10 miles!!”, but thanks to the support of the coaches and the weekly seminars, I was prepared to accomplish that goal. I now know that come fall, I will be able to accomplish my goal of running a half marathon thanks to FIT and all the support they have given me.

Cathy is a new FIT member and we are so happy to hear she is enjoying her training. Cathy we are thrilled to have you and we are so proud of you!! Congratulations on such a milestone and keep up the great work, you’re doing terrific! Mindy and Susan, thank you for introducing us to Cathy!

If you’d like to share your story, please email [email protected]
