FIT MEMBERS GET EXCITED!! We have yet, another BIG weekend around the corner! YAY!! This Saturday! (September 18th) Our Fall and Winter groups will be merging for the first time to run/walk 10 miles together!!! Enjoy the opportunity and make new friends! ATTENTION WINTER PARTICIPANTS, BE READY FOR THIS LONG RUN!!! The 10 miler is a HUGE milestone! and we are so excited for you!Believe it or not, a few weeks from now, it would be your short run :) But be sure to be ready! For tips to succeed, please review the FIT Long Run Planning Check List! FAMILY AND FRIENDS WELCOME THIS SATURDAY TO CHEER YOU ON! :) Would you like to have your loved ones around as you complete your run this Saturday? Invite them to come! If you'd like, you can have your family come to the park at around 7:45 am and cheer you on!! It will be fun Wooo Hooo! OUR FRIENDS FROM MIX1 ARE COMING TO CELEBRATE WITH US!!HERE IS A NOTE FROM THEM! Mix1 Beverage Company is excited about our continuous partnership with the Friends in Training (FIT) members! The Mix1 mission is to change people's lives by promoting athletic performance and overall health through all-natural protein shakes that deliver truly functional nutrition and wellness. We see exercise as a reward, never a chore, and are looking forward to supporting the many training goals that FIT has to offer! This weekend we will be sampling cold mix1 after your training, and selecting 3 people to take home product and give us a review on how’s it works for them. What is mix1? NO SEMINAR THIS SATURDAY! SOMETHING YOU SHOULD EXPERIENCE AT LEAST ONCE IN A LIFE TIME!! Last Sunday, I had the great opportunity to volunteer (and lead a beautiful group of volunteers) at the Firefighters 5K in Hollywood Beach. The race was to support the IAFF Firefighter's Fund and Muscular Dystrophy. What a great cause to support, and what an experience! It was an amazing event, and we had an excellent turnout! One of the best things about volunteering is not only that you are helping and contributing to a great cause, but that you also get to see the race from the other end and you learn to appreciate these events so much more! The hard works that goes into it, the craziness behind it; the logistics of the organization, the thrill, and the efforts of race organizers and volunteers to deliver a best in class event and all that it takes to put it together. What is the end result of all that hard work? In addition to helping The Firefighters and the Muscular Dystrophy foundation, it is the opportunity you are providing to all race participants to have a memorable moment of glory as they cross that finish line with the arms up in victory and a big smile! It is the fascinating faces of people accomplishing something big and doing something for their health and wellbeing that some may have never thought would be possible! It is the expressions of happiness, excitement, and determination, and the thrill of the competitive spirit. Providing an opportunity to an experienced runner, no matter their age, and see them push themselves hard to go for a personal best, is something really cool! Providing the same opportunity for someone new to the sport, to get motivated to reach their new goals, become a healthier individual and participate in their very first 5K it’s so rewarding! So, the best of it is, the satisfaction at the end of the event to see you were able to contribute to a great experience for someone in the community. Something you cannot put a price tag on, and something everyone should experience at least once in a lifetime. I invite you to be a volunteer next time you get an opportunity, and encourage you to support your running community! Sign me up for the next!
