GENERAL INFO
THIS SATURDAY:

8 AND 10 MILES AND ALL SMILES!!

This Saturday will be lots of fun! Our Winter Group will be doing their second 8 miler of the season, and after the long 21 miler last week, our Fall group will be doing an easy 10 miler! YAY!
Both of our groups will be pretty close in distance, which means again, we will see lots of people and yellow shirts up and down A1A!

Since there will be a lot of us out there, please remember to practice safety. Please do not run on the bike lane. Cross the streets at the light, keep a single file on the bridges and narrow sidewalks allowing others to go by, and if you feel overheated, use the beach showers! It feels great to get your head under the shower! :) Don’t forget to wear your FIT shirts and have fun everyone!

SEMINAR THIS SATURDAY: INJURY PREVENTION! Brought to us by Dr Kevin M. Christie, D.C. CSCS.

Dr. Christie is a Chiropractic Physician and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Dr. Christie received his B.S. degree from the Florida State University in Exercise Physiology and was an assistant strength & conditioning coach for the women’s athletic teams. Besides his Chiropractic practice, Dr. Christie is also an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University teaching Exercise Physiology and Motor Control & Learning. Don’t miss this informative seminar where you will learn all about injury prevention, and how to run healthy and happy! In addition, we will be r affling two Comprehensive Running Injury Prevention Analysis! You could be the lucky winner!

"My Success Story " By Jocelyne Norris

It all started with a mean doctor....

In 2004, I went for a routine checkup and was told by my mean doctor that “I was overweight, out of shape, had high blood pressure and high cholesterol”. Wake up call! I refused to believe that I had gotten so far removed from health and fitness and taking care of myself that my body was in such a bad state. I needed a life intervention, ASAP!

I had heard from friends about a lady named Marcela, who was described as a “health and fitness guru”. I immediately went to go find this Marcela, thinking if anyone could help me, she could.

With Marcela’s encouragement and love, I joined Friends in Training. To my pleasant surprise, I met many people like me! People that had never run before… people that wanted to get in shape too….people committed to a healthy lifestyle. Before I knew it, I ran three miles, then five, then ten and then twenty! OMG! I was even having fun! As the miles got longer, the friendships got stronger, and my body started to change!…

Jocelyne has become a great athlete, WAY TO GO Josie! You have come such a long way! I remember that day you said I was crazy for wanting you to run a marathon :) I’m glad this craziness is contagious! And I can’t put a price on all the special and fun moments we have built and shared together during our long training miles (specially the “I will survive” singing times at 4:00 am!) I treasure those memories in my heart.
Keep up the great job! We are so proud of you!

Your friend,

Marcela
